Women of Weems
Neighbors Making A Difference

We would like to introduce ourselves. The Women of Weems are comprised of women who reside in the neighborhoods of Weems Plantation and the Gardens of Weems Plantation. We believe that this is a good neighborhood to live in and we do our part to help promote this through positive actions. This can be from helping to beautify the grounds, to sponsoring events to bring our neighbors together. We meet monthly to to plan activities. We are always looking for more women to join our group. We would like you to bring your ideas on how to improve things here. If you are willing to occasionally donate and volunteer time, please come have fun with us. Look for our bi monthly newsletter for more information on us and what we are planning. If interested email us at women_of_weems@msn.com

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

We would like to thank everyone who donated items for the garage sale and those who came by and purchased items we were selling. The funds which we raised will be used for the Easter Egg Hunt, which will be held on April 4th at 10:00 AM at the Gazebo area. We look forward to having a good turnout and the families enjoying themselves as much as last year.

1/26/2009 - The Women of Weems Newsletter was distributed today. If you would like an electronic copy, you can download it here.

8/19/2008 - The annual H.O.A picnic will be held on October 18th from 11:30 - 2:30. The theme will be Oktoberfest. The H.O.A. is requesting a headcount of who plans to attend because the event will be catered, and this will determine the amount of food ordered. Please r.s.v.p via email to women_of_weems@msn.com or call Yari Shelby at 219-9690.

5/7/2008 - The past few weeks has had a lot of activity. First, we would like to thank everyone who showed up for the cleanup of the common areas. We were able to make drastic changes to the entry into Weems Plantation by cutting back overgrowth on the trees and shrubs. Also we removed a lot of the poison ivy which was overgrowing. During the cleaning we discovered trash to include beer and liquor bottles. Hopefully they will not return. We were unable to get to the Garden of Weems side, but we are planning to get it in the very near future and would appreciate any help we can get.

You may notice two white signs as you exit the property. We installed the signs to notify homeowners of up and coming events. Look for noticed in the near future. If you happen to notice anyone vandalizing the signs please let either us know or LeRoy Peck.

One may think that all this is coming from homeowners fees using to fund what we have done. All these things which we have spoke about on our webpage or activities which have happened are solely through volunteer efforts and donations. There has been no association fees used to fund any of these things. To continue making changes we are always in need of both volunteers and donations to make this happen.

As a reminder, on 17 May from 7:00AM - 1:00PM, we will be participating in the annual Neighborhood garage sale. To date, we have not heard from anyone involving donations of unused items for the women of weems. If anyone has any items they wish to get rid of and donate to us, please let us know. Previous entry lists names and numbers for those in the women’s of weems who are collecting items to be sold.

This has been a mosquito filled year for Tallahassee so far. We have found out that mosquito control only comes out if they are contacted. We encourage everyone to call Mosquito control and have them come out and spray the neighborhood. They can be contacted at 606-2200. This number is manned Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-5:00PM.

Finally, The Women of Weems will be meeting next on the 8th of June at 2:00 at Patty Hollenbeck's house at 3313 Bodmin Moor Dr. We really need more volunteers to attend. If you need any further information please call Yari at 219-9690 or Dawn at 309-1893. You can also send us an email at women_of_weems@msn.com

4/11/2008 - You may notice new signs at the entrances of The Gardens of Weems and Weems Plantation. With the impending traffic which will come with the new Fallschase shopping area and the upcoming Fallschase residential area, we inquired with the city if they could put up signs signaling no outlet through this neighborhood to those properties. Hopefully, this will discourage any unnecessary cars going through the neighborhood.
